Rodrigo Pessoa - Brazilian Showjumper

Rodrigo Pessoa is one of leading showjumping riders of all time winning many of the sports leading championships & tournements including the world cup final 3 consecative years.

Born in Chantilly France in 1972 Rodrigo Pessoa is son of legendary Brazzilian rider Nelson Pessoa, Rodrigo Pessoa started competing at the age of 9 and won the first of what would be many title at the age of 12. Rodrigo Pessoa began competing at grand prix level age 16 and won the junior European Championship competition, but could not take the title home because of his Brazilian citizenship. In 1992 Rodrigo Pessoa joined the Brazilian olympic team in Barcelona, he was the youngest showjumping rider at the games at 19 years old and were placed 9th individually ridding Special Envoy. Rodrigo Pessoa continued to stamp his mark on the european showjumping circuit in 1998 riding Baloubet du Rouet he won the World cup Final in the same year this time riding Gandinhi Lianos he became the world champion in rome. Rodrigo Pessoan & Baloubet du Rouet were succesfull defending the world cup title both in 1999 and 2000, also in 2000 Rodrigo Pessoa was to win a team bronze medal at the sydney olympic games..At the end of 2000, Rodrigo had already conquered 23 victories, 10 second places, 1 World Cup, 1 Olympic Medal and also ended the year as the number one in the the World Ranking FEI/BCM.

In the 2004 Olympics of Athens, riding Baloubet du Rouet, Rodrigo Pessoa won the indiviaul silver medal. he has continued competing in the sport with a selection of new horses including the hugely talented Oasis (ex Incas de l`Oasis)
