NORTHERN IRISH DRAUGHT HUNTER SHOW

Central Coast Draft Horse Show

The First Annual "Central Coast Draft Horse and Driving Show" (CCDHDS) to be held at the beautiful San Benito County Fairgrounds on Saturday May 22, 2004. The CCDHDS show will feature Draft Horses, but also include Light Horses, Mules and Minis, in a variety of driving classes and exhibitions. Additionally there will be an exhibits area with vendors and displays featuring a variety of horse related products.

Draft horses are truly gentle giants! Last year, in a very short amount of time, a handful of us put together a draft horse (with some light and mini horses too!) driving "playday". Our small event was such a success that subsequently I had been approached several times to see if we were going to do another event. After much discussion with a few of my horse loving friends it was decided that the level of interest warranted a full-blown multi event show.

The purpose of the Central Coast Draft Horse and Driving Show is to provide a venue for west coast draft horse and light/mini horse enthusiast to showcase their driving talents in a low-key fun competitive environment. Additionally we want to promote and educate the general public to our sport and our love of horses.

With this in mind we have developed a weekend full of fun and exciting events for you and your family to enjoy. Here are some of the highlights of this years show:

An All-American grand opening celebration with Cheryl Camany and her "Beautiful Belgians"

An open halter class featuring 30 inch Miniature Horses up to 2000 pound Drafts! What a sight that will be!

Multiple driving classes including obstacle course, gambler's choice, pleasure classes and a 4-up hitch class. We'll include many junior versions of these classes for our young horse aficionados.

A few undersaddle events including a draft horse barrel race and keyhole competition.

A grand finale "Parade Class" highlighting our competitors in an on track display of the finest!!!

And several great exhibitions including the multi-award winning "Hames Valley Vineyard 6-up Percheron Mare Hitch" and the "California Cowgirls Rodeo Drill Team"! There are several ways you can be involved in the show. You can bring your horses and participate, you can highlight your business and help sponsor the show, you can display and sell your products & services and exhibit, and of course you can come and watch the show for FREE! Alabama has a strong population of people who love to spend time with their horses in the show ring. Due to a lack of visibility across organizations, many shows do not reach their potential in advertising, participation, or promotion. That is where Alabama Horse Shows can help.

With more horse people looking to the web to stay connected, Alabama Horse Shows can assist in promoting horse shows and events, keeping Alabama horse show competitors connected and informed. Even better, the service is FREE!

Always check with the event contact to be sure of any modifications, rain dates, or cancellations. Alabama Horse Shows tries to have the latest and most accurate information available, but we have to rely on the event organizers to supply us with that information. Alabama Horse Shows
