Banoffee went off at 9-1 under Kieren Fallon and left it late to strike to win the Weatherbys Bank Cheshire Oaks at Chester on Wednesday.

The British Horseracing Authority have revealed Mahmood Al Zarooni has lodged an appeal against the length of his eight-year suspension from training.

Al Zarooni, 37, was found guilty of giving anabolic steroids to 15 horses BHA hearing on April 25.

The Godolphin handler was charged with rule breaches related to prohibited substances, duty to keep medication records, and conduct prejudicial to racing.

Well Respected trainer Reg Hollinshead has died, aged 89. He was renowned for his productioni of future top jockeys, Staffordshire-based Hollinshead trained around 2,000 winners under both codes from his Upper Longdon yard near Lichfield.
