The host nation of Kazakhstan captured all the medals at the 2011 FEI Central Asian Endurance Championship staged in Talgar earlier this month. Altyngali Bissemaganbetov claimed gold, while Amangeldy Munaitbayev took silver and Kairzhan Andybay clinched the bronze. Dutch championship TREC was held last weekend in Hoenderloo. Seven riders competed in the highest class (T4) against each other. Renske Giesen eventually went away with the title. After a very successful day at Kings Forest, the endurance eam announced, on behalf of the Selectors that the following combinations have been selected from the World Class Start Squad to travel to Mont Le Soie on 30th April 2011 to compete as a Team representing Great Britain. SUNDAY October 30 saw a group of determined riders take part in the 33rd Arab Marathon at Larkhill Racecourse, Salisbury. The event sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB) boasted a first prize of £1,000. The winner of the Marathon Challenge Trophy, together with the £1,000, was Alan Brown from Shropshire with his Arab horse, Bakst, bred by Finn Guinness of the Biddesden Stud. Coach Emile Docquier has selected Marijke Visser and Eomer for the Endurance World Championship for Juniors and Young Riders in the French Ibos Tarbes. The twenty strongest youth rider Netherlands currently has, with its mold Eomer much international experience in endurance. A good finish at the World Championship in 2011 and the fourth place at the European Championship in 2012 earned Visser last winter an invitation to the President's Cup in Abu Dhabi.

A Kutt Above and Jeremy Reynolds have been named to the US team's Long List for the 2012 FEI World Endurance Championships later this year, after victory in the recent 160km contest at the Priefert Ranch in Mt Pleasant, Texas.

In a close race to the finish Reynolds guided A Kutt Above to the win in 8:16:03, narrowly beating out Wendy MacCoubrey and Reach for the Gold (8:16:05) and Becky Hart riding No Repeat (8:16:09).

Britain's WEG endurance team of Ros Clapp, Christine Yeoman, David Yeoman (all from Somerset) and Beccy Broughton-Booker had mixed fortunes in the States. After the first four loops, Ros was the fastest of the team riders, with Christine and David not far behind and a medal was on the cards.

But after the fifth loop, Ros's horse Nazeeka was eliminated at the vet gate for irregular metabolics, which ended any medal hopes.

The owner of Carmarthenshire's Ffos Las racecourse says its future is safe after securing 26 fixtures next year. Businessman Dai Walters had feared the number of races could be cut to 16 and warned if that happened the course, opened in 2009, would not be viable.
