FEI Central Asia Endurance Championships 2011

The host nation of Kazakhstan captured all the medals at the 2011 FEI Central Asian Endurance Championship staged in Talgar earlier this month. Altyngali Bissemaganbetov claimed gold, while Amangeldy Munaitbayev took silver and Kairzhan Andybay clinched the bronze. Two French riders topped the Meydan Open Riders World Ranking for FEI year end results. Virginie Atger, who was ranked fifth in the world last year, topped the list in 2010 by just 14 points over fellow Frenchwoman Sarah Chakil. Baltonsborough rider Ros Clapp has been selected for the Great Britain endurance team for the World Equestrain Games which start this weekend in Kentucky. SUNDAY October 30 saw a group of determined riders take part in the 33rd Arab Marathon at Larkhill Racecourse, Salisbury. The event sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB) boasted a first prize of £1,000. The winner of the Marathon Challenge Trophy, together with the £1,000, was Alan Brown from Shropshire with his Arab horse, Bakst, bred by Finn Guinness of the Biddesden Stud. Senior endurance rider Christine Yeoman will contest her second World Equestrian Games after Endurance GB team selectors confirmed her place on the squad heading to Kentucky in September. "I am really proud to be part of what I believe is an exceptionally good team.
