Cirrus Des Aigles, star of the Longines International raceday in Hong Kong on Sunday, has been ruled out of the Cup with a strained ligament sustained in his trackwork yesterday.

Trainer Corine Barande-Barbe said trackside on Friday morning: "He has strained a ligament above the fetlock while working yesterday. We did an ultrasound last night and he will not be running - it would be crazy to run so we will be taking him home and treating it."

Frankie Dettori Given 6 Months Ban

Jockey Frankie Dettori has been given a six-month ban from racing after failing a drugs test in France.

The 41-year-old, who has more than 3,000 career wins, tested positive for a banned substance on 16 September.

The suspension imposed by French racing authority France Galop will run until 19 May 2013, and will apply worldwide for the three-time champion jockey.
