Claire Gallimore Dressage Rider

A seventeen year old dressage rider who has enjoyed success riding for England and Great Britain in the Pony Section and am now making the transition onto horses.

At home I train regularly with Grand Prix rider, Daniel Sherriff, who is a fantastic trainer and keeps the learning both constructive and fun. Jill Day also offers me words of advice and guidance for which I am very grateful. Of course, I also owe my success to my family who always encourage me and offer wise words!

Since the age of thirteen, I have been on Hertfordshire?s Talented Athlete Programme which has benefitted me enormously in offering advice on athlete nutrition and performance lifestyle and practical help in strength and conditioning to improve my core stability. I have also been on the government funded TASS scheme which supports promising young athletes whilst they are in full time education.

I am presently in my final year of school and hope to continue my education at University. It will be a challenge to combine further studies with my equestrian pursuits but I am determined to succeed.

In sport you always have to look ahead and aim high. I represented Great Britain at the Pony European Championships in 2009 and qualified for the Kur Finals. In 2010 I was again selected for the GB Pony Team and achieved my ambition of being in the top 5 placings and the accolade of being the top British rider. I am now making the transition onto horses and am working on training my young mare up to Grand Prix. I intend to aim for the Junior and Young Rider teams along the way and hope that one day I shall bring home a medal for my country.
