Over 400 years in the making, the World Famous Lipizzaner Stallion show is equestrian majesty at its finest. After a two-year absence, the Lipizzaner Stallions will return to Boone this week for a show at the Holmes Convocation Center. The event will be held on Friday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are on sale now. The current Lipizzaner tour features 12 to 14 stallions performing selected maneuvers of the Grand Prix Olympic level dressage.
Riding the horses and putting them through their paces are a dozen of the most capable riders from around the world. At the conclusion of the performance, the Lipizzaner Stallions will perform the traditional Grand Quadrille, featuring six to eight Lipizzaner Stallions and their riders executing an intricate equine ballet, exhibiting maneuvers through the highest level of dressage.
Over the years over 25 million people have attended Lipizzaner Stallion shows in North and South America, Europe, Australia and Hawaii. This family-friendly experience is certain to inspire cries of awe as these majestic stallions perform spectacular leaps and maneuvers born in the fury of the battleground.
With a lineage that goes back to distant ancestors in Asia and Arabia, the Lipizzaner breed was perfected in Europe over 400 years ago.
Used primarily as a military horse, the breed was known for strength, speed and discipline.
