Kyra Kyrklund at Hickstead Premier League Show

Early start yesterday as Kyra Ktrklund left the stable 06.45 to go to Hickstead Premier League Show (Prix St George) with MATATA (9 years old Finnish Warmblood gelding by Matador) and RICO (11 years old Lusitano stallion by Hostile).

This was Matata’s second show ever but he behaved like an experienced competition horse. Last time Kyra Ktrklund went to Hickstead, he was very excited and with that in mind, I took 45 minutes for warm up. I think yesterday, 25 minutes had been enough as he was relaxed straight from the start. I am very pleased with him in the arena, no major mistakes but he needs a bit more strength to be even more expressive in the test (65.39%).

It was Rico’s first dressage show ever. You never know how they, especially stallions, are going to react to the "buzz" at shows but he did not disappoint Kyra Ktrklund! A dream to ride from the first step in the warm up. Calm but energetic and focused, relaxed but expressive and concentrated. Not even the ponies in the warm up distracted him.
Kyra Ktrklund was amazed of how self confident Rico was in the test too and how effortless he performed all the movements (he won with 71.05%). I can’t wait to take him to the next shows which will be the CDI at Hartpury and Hickstead.
