Hannah Tiley riding Soundcat Win in the Blue Chip Feed Balancer Newcomers Second Round

The David Broome Event Centre hosted the Wales and West Home Pony International show this weekend which saw another chance for qualified riders to compete in the Blue Chip Feed Balancer Newcomers Second Round. With three Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) tickets and five Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival Tickets up for grabs competitors travelled across the country to compete.
Coming out on top was fourteen year old Hannah Tiley from West Sussex riding her mother's (Simonne) eight year old appaloosa gelding Soundcat. Jumping treble clear in a jump off time of 35.76 seconds proved unbeatable giving Hannah the win and the ever sought after HOYS qualification.
The second HOYS ticket went to twelve year old Emily Ward from Cheshire riding her fathers (Nick) seven year old grey gelding Prospect Eddie. Emily had already picked up a third place in this competition at The Hand Equestrian Centre and was keen to better herself. Jumping a treble clear in a jump off time of 36.59 seconds she did just that giving her second place and adding to her tally of HOYS tickets, having already qualified this pony for the Squibb Demolition Foxhunter.
There were thirteen combinations who jumped double clear to make it in to the final jump off and with a lot of them already qualifying for the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival the qualification passed down the line to twelfth place.
Third to sixth place were taken by previously qualified combinations; Celia Crees from West Glamorgan riding her fathers (Gareth) seventeen year old bay mare Blaensawdde Rosie. Hertfordshire based Jodie Hooper-Slany riding the eight year old chestnut gelding Maghery Blaze owned by Tina Slany. Tabitha Sleap from Hampshire riding her fathers (Kevin) seven year old grey gelding Ballybaloo and Hampshire based James Inwood riding his mother's (Belinda) eight year old brown mare Vesuvius.
Therefore the second of five Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival tickets went to seventh placed Demi Watson from the West Midlands. Riding her mother's (Nicola) five year old bay gelding Bramblebrough Alan Demi jumped round with just one fence down in the final round in a time of 44.24 seconds.
Eighth place and also picking up Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification was Cornwall based Joshua Hutchins riding his father's (Henry) six year old bay gelding Charlie XIII, also jumping the final round with just one fence down in a time of 48.78 seconds.
Ninth place had already qualified Helen Mcall riding Claudia Pallett's nine year old grey gelding Ballyduff Bobby, therefore tenth place and the fourth Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification ticket went to Midlothian based Rowan Ball. Riding his mother's (Ruth) ten year old grey mare Vandora Rowan jumped with two down in the final jump off in a time of 41.14 seconds.
Eleventh placed Callum Tusler riding his mothers (Fiona) ten year old black mare Filkins Final Mission had also previously qualified leaving Twelfth placed John Merrick picking up the final Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification of the class. John from Shropshire was riding Julie Browns eight year old dun gelding, Brooklands Dun Dreamer. Jumping the final round with three fences down left John with twelve faults in a time of 53.07 seconds.
The 2011 Horse of the Year Show will take place between the 4th and 9th October at Birmingham's NEC.
The 2011 Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival will take place from Sunday 28th August to Saturday 3rd September at the Stafford County Showground.
